Is Johnny Manziel overrated?

The article I chose to report on is entitled “Why Johnny Manziel will never be an elite NFL Draft prospect”. I think that this article has many strengths and can be dissected a number of ways. When I read articles on the internet, it is always a plus to have more than just text on the page. It really helps if the article has a corresponding video and/or a comment section. This article contains this and then some.
In my opinion the text in this article is very well written for a number of reasons. The article consists of various sections with different titles, each with their own special place in the piece. All these different sections of text seem to complement each other very nicely. I think that the biggest thing about the article isn’t a particular piece of text, it is the whole point of the article. in college football right now, there is no bigger celebrity quarterback than Johnny Manziel. He is extremely popular (his nickname is Johnny Football for god sakes) and everybody knows his name, usually not for the right reasons. Manziel is generally praised for his quarterback play just because of his popularity, many major sports stations such as ESPN will constantly rave about him, when in reality, he is just a slightly above average quarterback. This author could have just simply gone with the flow and hopped on the bandwagon so to speak and rooted for this guy just to write a popular article, but he chose to stand his ground and write what he believed to be true.
One method the author utilizes to express his opinion is the use of video. These videos show that although it may be true that Manziel is throwing up pretty solid numbers through his freshman year at Texas A&M, his style of play would never really be suited for the National Football League. The author also includes a plethora of pictures that show some of the “stars” flaws. Some of these pictures are actually not even of Manziel, they are of other quarterbacks who are compared to him.
The last thing that I can say about this article is the fact that it has a comment section at the bottom. I think that a lot of the time, having or not having a comment section makes or breaks an article. In my opinion comment sections are important because after you read the article, you can gauge other peoples reaction to the subject at hand. I wasn’t really surprised to scroll down to the comments and see that the first one was a long paragraph saying that the article was a joke, and that Manziel was a god. But then again, there were also many comments that stated that the authors article was indeed true. In many articles that I have read over the years, especially in sports articles, I have noticed that in the comment section, half the comments are supporting the article, and half of them are bashing it. So I guess you really cant know if it is a good article based on the contents of the comment section, you have to look at the physical content of the article like the text, video, and pictures yourself and decide if the article is appealing or not.
