The
article I chose for this
assignment is about Derek Jeter and his injury issues that he is dealing
with this season and what his future holds as a player. The article I chose is
from the NY daily news website. The media used in this article is print, video,
and interactive.
I
like the print that was used in this article because the author of the article
used quotes from other people to compare Jeter’s injury. For example, the
author uses “He was reminded then of a great line from the great old Australian
Davis Cup captain Harry Hopman, who once said, “If you’re hurt, you don’t play.
If you play, you’re not hurt.” I like how he used that quote to compare Jeter
to this Australian Davis Cup captain. Overall I really enjoyed the print of
this article because the author uses comparisons and explains Jeter’s past
history very well.
Although they had a video on the page I did not like the choice
of the video used on this article. The video was simply a recap of the game
that happend the night before. I would rather it have been maybe a top 10 video
of Jeter’s clutch hits in his career or something similar to that.
I also did not like that the pictures in the middle of the
article were so big and in between the article. If the pictures were smaller I
wouldn’t mind them but I feel like they got in the way of what I was trying to
read. That was something I definitely would have changed if I was able to. I
also did not see a comments section for this video. I was very dissapointed
because I enjoy reading the opinions about the article from other people who
have read it as well but I was not able to for this article. I feel like a
comments section is a great way to receive feedback from people reading it and
see what they had to say about the article that they read. Although they did
have some buttons on the side of the page to share it through twitter,
facebook, and some other social media sites, I would rather have seen a
comments section instead.
Overall though this was a good read for me and I enjoyed the
print in it but like I said, there is a few things that I would have changed.
