IS SCHOOL CATCHING UP WITH CULTURE?

I thought all elements that were assigned to observe worked well in this article. Former Mayor of San Francisco and presently Lt. Governor of California, Gavin Newsom engaged in a debate regarding higher-education reform. I believe this online piece worked well, because in the past there were many issues that I disagreed with - then Mayor Newsom on. But I liked the stance he is taking regarding this issue.
I thought Lt. Governor Newsome made a strong and persuasive case for this issue (higher-education reform).  My past judgments notwithstanding, I side with his argument to make higher-education more individualized and add elements of technology to coincide with the resonation of a new generation. This point was was delineated in the video.
I also believe that his acknowledgment of the overwhelming amount of smaller junior colleges is not an economic advantage to our society or workforce. It puts a burden on the tax payers and does little to enhance the job market.
It is also my opinion that the text in the article complimented the video. It stated certain and moreover interesting things that were not presented in the video itself. It also elaborated on issues and positions held by Lt. Governor Newsome, not entailed in the video.
By both watching the video and reading the text/article I had a solid understanding of the subject-matter. Had I just seen the video or only read the article, my knowledge of the subject would have been mitigated.
I skimmed the comments and read some in total. This was a new exercise for me, as I do not usually post or read the comments. I am glad I took the time to do this, as it informed me how engaged people are in this subject and most likely others.
This was a good example of how to incorporate three different elements into one topic and make it a comprehensive and technically up-to-date online article. It illustrated that all elements of the piece have to be done well. There was a continuity to this article. I think that is what made it work so well. If the article is poorly written and the video is good, you exit the site with a bad taste in your mouth. Likewise the other way around, if the article is tremendous and the video is subpar than the reader exits with a negative impression. Not so in this case, to my delight.
